Shakamak Area Chamber of Commerce

About Us

Jason Rogers Founder of Jasonville Indiana Shakamak Area Chamber of Commerce was founded in the late 1970's by a group of business people and concerned citizens who had a vision to form an organization that would be implemental in Shakamak Area's rural renewal and development efforts. Although, the Shakamak Area is rich in history going back 150 years. The new Chamber once orginally named the Jasonville Industrial Bureau has engaged in development of economic awareness and the future growth of the area. It is because of this steady economic growth and healthy business development that the Chamber has proudly grown its member base to help develop the areas economy for the future.

The Chamber has developed into a group of people who own, manage and represent all forms of business as well as concerned citizens that understand the future importance of our area. Our members range from retail merchants and restaurant owners, from banks and non-profit organizations to individual home and land property owners. Our members are also everyday hard working individuals that have a strong history to the area and understand the importance of the future and preserving its history.

The mission of the Chamber is like any other to address the needs of economic growth while understanding the community as a whole. We are an organization of board, staff and members working strongly together to achieve the same results for future economic development. Each members' involvement is what makes the Chamber a successful venture. Each member helps to make the Shakamak Area a better place to work, live, and play, while maintaining and increasing a quality of life we all want for ourselves and future generations.

As a Chamber member, you will get only as much out of your investment as you are willing to put into it. We will do our very best to fulfill our obligation to inform and encourage you to take full advantage as a member to help make positive changes to our area. As a member we hope that you will take the time to participate as much as possible in our Chamber activities including monthly Chamber committee meetings, lectures, dinners/breakfasts, cook-outs, surveys, and other special events so that you can help us to help you succeed.

With your help as we continue to grow with you, The Shakamak Area Chamber of Commerce will be the leading organization in the Shakamak Area that pushes for sound, balanced economic development. As a vital organization that represents the diverse interests of our members who are from many different business sectors, locations and concerned citizens, the Chamber speaks as a collective voice on issues that impact business, the economy, and the community at large. We recognize that not all businesses are created equal, and while they may be similar, they also have different needs. Our goal is to represent the entire business community and concerned citizens as effectively as possible so that not only businesses thrive, but the region as a whole, and we may continue to experience improvements in our overall quality of life.
